Story World

Nachiketa goes to Yama's abode when his father tells him that to death he will give him to. Nachiketa stays there for 3 days until Yama returns. Since Nachiketa was there without being treated for, Yama offers him 3 boons for the 3 nights. Nachiketa asks for his father's anger to be appeased as his first boon. His third boon is for Yama to teach him the fire sacrifice that leads to heaven. Yama grants him his wish and even names it after him. Nachiketa's third boon is to know what happens after death. Yama offers Nachiketa anything else, but he declines because he knows that none of that will last forever and that nothing has the equal value of knowing what happens after death.
