Poetics story

It was the 4th of July on a Saturday morning when Katherine had gone out for a run. She'd always go for a run no matter the whether or the mood that she was in. As she went around the block, she noticed that there was a man in a black hoodie behind her following her. She started running faster and he went chasing after her and as he was catching up, Katherine noticed something about him. Katherine suddenly stopped and told him, "I know it's you." It was Noah, Katherine's boyfriend since the eig grade. Katherine and Noah would always prank each other. At the end of each year, they would add up all the times that they'd successfully prank each other. Katherine always won. Noah asked, "How did you know?" "I knew it was you because I noticed that there was a stain on your jeans. You had gotten those jeans stained when I pranked you." Katherine replied with a smile. Every year since they were in the third grade, they would spend the 4th of J

Literature Analysis: A Work in Progress

The book I have been reading is The Hate U Give by Angia Thomas. The plot of the story is about the life of a girl named Start and the events that occur during the protest on police brutality. This is mainly about how she deals with this because she goes to a rich school, but comes from a lower income family so she has to decide where she stands. I believe that the theme of this story is about standing up for your rights and for what you believe in because in this story Starr has to have the courage to honor her friends death and she does it by protesting. I believe that Angie Thomas wakes up at 10 in the morning and reads a bit from her favorite book. Then she goes off to make herself some breakfast and while she’s eating she either watches or reads the news. After that she goes out to see her family and catch up on what’s happened or she goes to see some of her writer friends and  discuss ideas for their new books. One literary technique that I found was allusion because Thomas refer

The Week in Review

This week I learned the parts of a plot and how the they help understand the order of the storyline.

The Plot Thickens

Do you like action?  Then you'll love stories that are driven by plot.  Here are the key ingredients to a good plot. The key ingredients to a good plot is exposition, the rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. The exposition gives background information. The rising action is the inciting incident which builds tension. Then comes the climax where there is maximum intensity. Then there is falling action which gives more information on the situation. Finally there is the resolution which is where the problem is solved and you get the whole story.

The Making of an Essay

It was a little difficult to write an essay on Katha Unpanishad since for me it was a little difficult to understand. Some times I couldn’t understand what the characters were saying so I didn’t know how to use their words to show as evidence in my essay.

Writing About Life and Death

The story, Katha Unpanishad is used as a way of showing allegory. An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that sends out a hidden message. When death appears as a character in the story that is showing allegory. Also when Nachiketa represents what is best about being a teenager. Something else that shows allegory is the abstract theme of religion and death.              First, allegory is used when death is represented as a character whose name is Yama. Yama lives in an abode where he is visited by Nachiketa. Yama is able to grant people boons which are wishes. He offers Nachiketa 3 boons, but is only able to grant him 2 of them. The third is telling him the secret about whether there is still existence after death. Even himself being death cannot necessarily give him the answer to his question. This shows that maybe never will anyone alive be able to know what it is to be dead.             Secondly, Nachiketa shows people what is best about being a teenager. Nachiketa

My Big Question

I've always wanted to if what I'm doing now and what I'm going to do in the future makes a difference. Would I be a good influence in people's lifes? Would something that I say be passed down through the generations? Would my memory live on? Knowing the answers to these questions would probably be a huge relief or a burden. I want to know, but at the same time I don't. Iv'e always felt like if you knew everything that was going to happen in your life then you would never be able to truly live.

Story World

Nachiketa goes to Yama's abode when his father tells him that to death he will give him to. Nachiketa stays there for 3 days until Yama returns. Since Nachiketa was there without being treated for, Yama offers him 3 boons for the 3 nights. Nachiketa asks for his father's anger to be appeased as his first boon. His third boon is for Yama to teach him the fire sacrifice that leads to heaven. Yama grants him his wish and even names it after him. Nachiketa's third boon is to know what happens after death. Yama offers Nachiketa anything else, but he declines because he knows that none of that will last forever and that nothing has the equal value of knowing what happens after death.
